Our vision

A vision is bigger than any one organisation. It describes the kind of community we want to help build together with families, neighbours and partners. These are the parts of that picture.

Safety

Children are protected from harm at home, at school and in the community, and know which adults they can turn to.

Every child has at least one stable, caring adult who looks out for them.

Children attend school, are supported with learning and are encouraged to keep going.

Children are well fed, healthy and supported emotionally as well as physically.

Dignity

Children are treated with respect, listened to and never defined by what has happened to them.

Family support

Families get the help they need to care for their children safely, so that fewer children need to leave home.

Community development

Neighbours, organisations and services work together to look after children.

Future opportunities

Young people leave childhood with confidence, skills and real options for their future.

Our part in it

Khumbulani contributes to this vision by caring for children who need a safe place now, and by working alongside families and partners on the things that keep children safe in the long run.
