Our values

Our values shape how we care for children, how we treat each other and how we look after the trust people place in us.

Child safety
The safety and best interests of each child come before everything else, including our own convenience or reputation.
Dignity
Every child is a whole person with a name, a story and a future. We protect their privacy and never use their circumstances to shock or to sell.
Compassion
We respond to children and families with warmth and patience, especially when they are going through something hard.
Respect
We listen to children, value their views and treat families, colleagues and partners with courtesy.
Equality
We care for every child without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, disability, nationality or background.
Accountability
We take responsibility for our decisions, report honestly on our work and act on complaints and feedback.
Integrity
We do what we say, use resources for the purpose they were given and do not make claims we cannot support.
Community
We are part of Khayelitsha. We work with local people, organisations and services, not apart from them.
Empowerment
We help children and families build the confidence and skills to shape their own lives.
Transparency
We are open about who we are, how we work and how donations are used.

Help us keep children safe
